Everywhere you look, in the newspaper, on television, on the radio you see companies advertising their products or services. Advertising is basically a means of selling. What are these companies selling? Themselves. They are trying to convince you through their advertisements that they are the one with whom you should do busines. One definition of advertising is this:

the action of calling something to the attention of the public especially by paid announcements.

These paid announcements are expensive. In some companies, it can be their largest expense. However, if the advertisment is done well, it is a very valuable asset. A well conceived advertisement can pursuade you, the customer, that you should do business with a particular company.

This is no exception with the precious metals business. Precious metals companies will try to convince you that they are paying the most money for your precious metals. They will use catch words and phrases like "paying top dollar", "most money for your precious metals", "paying you the most", etc. They will also say things like "trustworthy", "honest", "experienced", or other things to convince the public that they are the best.
